Excuse me, madam, a few questions ...

I just have two questions:

Who are you?

And what are you doing in my garden?

After the recent heatwave and rains two purple stems suddenly sprouted out of the ground and yesterday they started to bloom.

A spider has built a web between them, but didn't want to stop for photographs when our reporter arrived on the scene.

All offers of identification gratefully received.

Fits in with what I have read and been reminded with this week in "The Ministry of Motherhood".

It could be a bella donna lily, mine are out at the moment. They can survive without water. I think the leaves come up at a different time to the flowers. I think pieces that people throw out have been known to keep on growing.
