Vintage Dishes

This little sandwich tray is one of my favourite pieces of china in my kitchen cabinet. I love the green, and it is a perfect mix of sweet and 1930s geometric. I think it belonged to my Gran.

I also have a large bowl in a similar pattern in an orange/brown colourway. This sits in the study and looks nice on the dark sideboard or side table.

Interestingly, they both have different edge designs. . The orange bowl has a Royal Staffordshire Honeyglaze marking, but no pattern name. This mark was used c.1947, which is later than I would have guessed from the design. The green plate is unmarked below except for "MADE IN ENGLAND" - I suppose that makes it a fake.

I love the shapes of these dishes, especially the "corners".

Those are really pretty! I love plates like those - they look like they're from the depression era.

Beautiful plates-I love the designs. In fabrics, grey became a popular color in the late 1940s and there it is on your plates. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing those.

I love those! The green one is so distinctive with the geometrics and florals. Very classy but feminine.
