This is getting ridiculous!

After reading Suzanne's post for Vintage Thingie Thursday, and looking through a book on Christmas Collectibles (that's a dangerous book!) I was inspired to try a few other local op-shops for Christmas decorations, and scored! So I thought I'd do a second post for today, since there's only one more Thursday before Christmas!
(if you missed my first post for VTT this morning please click here.)
Check these out:

Glass bird ornaments, somewhat the worse for wear, but so cool. I think the peacock (?) above used to have legs, and the one below used to have wings, I guess! The peacock's tail is painted, you can see it from above.

Hmmm have done a little research now and this is what I read in my Christmas Collectibles book (by Lissa and Dick Smith):
These ornaments were popular in the 1920s to 1940s... "Moulded glass birds were perched on wire-spring legs which twisted into metal clips that snapped easily on to the tree. The birds had two basic types of tails, spun glass or feathers, and they sported spun glass wings if the ornament had a moulded indentation on each side." So now I know. I guess they were quite something when they were new and complete.

These angels have slots in the bottom so I guess they used to stand on something.

I got the 2 birds and the 2 angels for 80c!

I think this little angel boy is hilarious. So ... cute in a 60s/70s sort of way.

Santa looks very glamourous in gold glitter, made in that old-fashioned plastic you don't see anymore.
I love the simplicity of this ornament

And this reindeer is easily dated by the 70s flower sticker (minus a petal)
These last ornaments were all in a bag for $1.00, I think!

But I think these are my favourites. I don't know why, they are not my colours at all! But just so retro.

Oh dear, it looks like I'm going to need a second Christmas tree to hang my growing collection of vintage ornaments!

They don't make ornaments like they
used to! I enjoyed looking at all
of your! I also have a bird with feather tail but it doesn't go on my
tree with cats in the house! It would
be tail-less and head-less probably!
ha ha...

Those bird ornaments are a great find. I used to have some with feathered tails and they clipped on. And every time I see those little elves I think of Mattel's Liddle Kiddle dolls.
